What is involved
Where the time actually goes.
Almost all of a deep clean is edges, seals and joints. Flat surfaces are quick; the perimeter of every one of them is not.

Grout, seals and silicone
Grout is brushed rather than wiped, because a cloth passes over a recessed joint without touching it. Silicone that has gone black is mould in the seal itself and cleaning will not always bring it back. We will tell you when it wants replacing instead.

Appliances and extraction
Fridge shelves and seals, washing machine drawer and door gasket, dishwasher filter, extractor grease filters soaked rather than wiped. These are the parts that hold smells, and none of them are part of a regular visit.

Edges and above eye level
Skirtings, architraves, door tops, light switches, handles, radiator backs and the tops of kitchen units. Nothing above safe reach from a step stool, and no external glazing.

How a deep clean actually runs.

Walk the house first
We go round with you and agree what is dirt and what is damage, so nothing is a surprise at the end and nothing gets scrubbed that will not change.

Everything wet goes on early
Limescale and grease treatments go onto tiles, screens, taps and extractor filters at the start and are left while other work happens.

Top down, dry work
Door tops, unit tops, architraves, picture rails and skirtings through the whole house before anything wet touches a floor.

Detail work
Grout brushed, seals and gaskets cleaned out, switches and handles, radiator backs, window frames and sills.

Floors and a walk round
Vacuum throughout including edges, hard floors washed, then we walk it with you before we pack up.
Dirt against damage
Some of what looks like dirt will not clean off, and saying so is the job.
Wirral is a hard water area, and hard water does two different things. Fresh limescale is a deposit sitting on the surface and it comes off. Limescale that has been left on glass for years etches into it, and what is left behind is a texture in the glass rather than a film on it. No product removes that, because there is nothing left to remove.
The same distinction runs through a deep clean. Grout that is stained through has taken the colour into the material. Silicone that has gone black has mould growing inside the seal, not on it. Enamel that has crazed, worktops that have been scorched and chrome that has pitted are all wear rather than soiling.
We would rather tell you that on the day, with the thing in front of us, than spend an hour on something that cannot change and leave you assuming it simply was not cleaned properly. Where the answer is replacement rather than cleaning, we say which one it is.

Deep cleaning questions.
A deep clean resets a house. Keeping it there is a regular round, and if the property is being handed back the standard is different again. Regular domestic cleaning, End of tenancy cleaning, Oven cleaning.
How long does a deep clean take?
A three bedroom house with two bathrooms is usually six to eight hours, sometimes with two of us working. Kitchens and bathrooms take roughly half of that between them, because almost all the time goes on edges, seals and joints.
Do I need a deep clean or a regular clean?
If the surfaces look fine but the detail has been building up for a year or more, it is a deep clean. If you want it kept where it is, that is a regular round. Most people start with one and continue with the other.
Do you clean inside cupboards?
Yes, if they are empty. We are not there to decide what is yours and what is rubbish, so anything you want cleaned inside needs emptying first. Kitchen cupboards left full get done outside only.
Will you clean the windows?
Inside, yes, along with sills and frames. Outside glazing above the ground floor is a different trade with different equipment, and we would rather point you at one than do it badly off a step stool.
Can you get rid of black mould in the bathroom?
Surface mould on tiles and grout, usually yes. Mould growing inside perished silicone is in the seal itself, and cleaning it only removes the surface colour for a few weeks. That wants the silicone cutting out and replacing.
Is the oven included in a deep clean?
Only if you ask for it, and it is priced on top. A proper oven clean means the shelves and racks out and the door split, which is two hours on its own and does not fit inside a general deep clean.
Do you move furniture?
We move what can be moved safely by hand, so we vacuum under a chair or a light table. We do not shift wardrobes, sofas, beds or anything that needs two people and a plan, because that is how floors and backs get damaged.
What do you need from me beforehand?
Clear worktops, windowsills, bathroom shelves and floors, and empty anything you want cleaned inside. Every minute we spend moving your things around is a minute not spent on the work you are paying for.
